The Nationwide Series Insider Review
Kansas - Camping World 400 - Weekend Update - Week 30

Nationwide Series

Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Motor Speedway.
Does anyone have an answer for the Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota teams this season?  Denny
Hamlin (#18) won the race and was pulling away at then end.  He led all 36 laps of the final
green flag run to the checkered flag.

It was Hamlin's 4th win of the season.  Joe Gibbs Racing's 17th win of the season and
Toyota's 18th win of the season.  JGR has sent 4 different drivers to victory lane this season.
Kyle Busch has 8 wins this season (6 in the #18 JGR, 1 in the #20 JGR and 1 in the #32
Braun Racing).  Tony Stewart has 5 wins this season (all in the #20).  Denny Hamlin has 4
wins this season (2 in the #18, 2 in the #20).  Joey Lagano has 1 win this season (in the
#20).

Denny Hamlin led 99 laps in route to the win and won $84,845 of the $1.5 million purse.
Kevin Harvick (#33) led 90 laps early in the race, but could only manage a 13th place finish.

Clint Bowyer (#2) finished 2nd.  David Ragan (#6) was 3rd.  Carl Edwards (#60) was 4th.
Matt Kenseth (#17) was 5th.

47 cars attempted to qualify with Johnny Chapman (#90), Brian Keselowski (#92), Mike
Harmon (#84) and Larry Gunselman (#0) missing the race.

The Nationwide Series has a week off and then heads to Lowe's Motor Speedway for the
Dollar General 300 on October 10th.

Trackside 1 Teams

#84 Mike Harmon Racing Chevy driven by Mike Harmon --
Harmon is still looking for
primary sponsorship and has taken a few lumps over the past few weeks.

The #84 car looked pretty good in the two Kansas practice sessions, but could not break into
the top 43 practice speeds.

The team has worked hard to get the car back in racing shape and looks to change their
fortune in Charlotte on October 10th.  Partial sponsorship has been secured, but the rear
quarter panels ($8,000) and the hood ($5,000) are still available.

Special thanks to Kathy Gastmann and guests for their sponsorship support at Kansas.

#89 Victory in Jesus Dodge driven by Morgan Shepherd -- Shepherd has put together 2
back to back top 25 runs and finished 24th in Kansas.  The team accomplished this feat on
just two sets of tires!

#92 Keselowski Automotive Dodge driven by Brian Keselowski -- Brian Keselowski is still
looking for primary sponsorship.  However, the urge to go racing is great.  The team made
the trip out to Kansas and looked strong as the 31st fastest car during the first practice and
the 28th fastest during the second practice.  They qualified 40th fastest, but missed the race
by two spots.  Look for the #92 car to make its next attempt at Memphis on October 25th.

Sprint Cup Series

NASCAR Sprint Cup Camping World 400 from Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, KS.
Juan Pablo Montoya (#42) took the pole, but was found to have illegal shocks -- the rear
shock exceeded the maximum pressure allowed. Jimmie Johnson (#48) inherited the pole
and Mark Martin (#8) sat on the outside of row 1.  The Chase drivers were sprinkled all the
way back to the 37th starting position with Jeff Burton (#31) bringing up the rear in the 37th
spot.

There were 7 cautions for 25 laps and 16 lead changes among 10 drivers.

Roush racing was again the strongest team with 3 drivers in the top 5 and 4 in the top 8.
Hendrick Motorsports also showed well with Johnson winning, Jeff Gordon (#24) a
respectable 4th and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (#88) in 13th.  There were 10 Chasers in the top 13
spots.

It was Johnson's 5th win of the season and 38th win of his career.  The win earned Johnson
$364,411 out of a $6.1 million purse.  Johnson led 124 laps.  The last 2 laps were crazy as
Carl Edwards (#99) flew out of nowhere to make a last ditch effort to pass Johnson on the
last lap.  Edwards blasted past Johnson, but could not hold his line and drove in to the wall.
He maintained control and still finished 2nd.  Gregg Biffle (#16) held off Gordon for 3rd place.
Gordon was battling a head cold all weekend.  Matt Kenseth (#17) held on for 5th place.  Of
the Chase contenders, Tony Stewart (#20) spun through the infield grass on lap 131.  He
broke his front splitter and had to fix it under the green flag.

After Chase race #3 the standings look like this:

The Sprint Cup moves on to the 4th stop of the Chase next week in Talladega.

Look for the Trackside 1 crew in the infield in the Frontrunners 1 RV section.  Call us for a

Craftsman Truck Series

The trucks were off this weekend.

Look for the trucks to take the track again at Talladega October 4th.

ARCA RE / MAX Series

The ARCA RE / MAX Series Loud Energy Drink 150 at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

In a rare road course race on the ARCA circuit, Justin Allgaier was leading the race when the
rains fell and officials called the race.  It was Allgaier's first road course start.  They
completed 48 of the scheduled 67 laps before the rains came.

An early stop in the fuel strategy put Allgaier out front and in position to lead when the
officials called the race.

Proving he is a versatile driver, Alltaier has won on dirt, a short track, a superspeedway and
now on a road course this season.

The rest of the top five were:  Colin Braun (#99 - in for injured Ricky Stenhouse, Jr.) was 2nd,
Tayler Malsam (#4) was 3rd, Andy Lally (#48) was 4th and Brian Scott (#25) was 5th.

With just two races remaining on the season, the points look like this:

The ARCA RE / MAX Series runs on the super speedway at Talladega this weekend.
